Warpigs birthday

Warpigs marks its 10th anniversary with a festival in Kødbyen Copenhagen filled with food, beer and heavy metal.

This year marks 10 years since Mikkeller opened the brewpub: Warpigs in Kødbyen. Since then, Warpigs has become an institution on the Copenhagen restaurant scene, where up to 3000 visitors a day, from both Denmark and abroad, come for Texan BBQ and Mikkeller's craft beer, which is brewed on site. To celebrate the anniversary, Warpigs invites you to a grand four-day birthday festival from May 1 to 4. CopenHell is the music partner and has curated the concert program. They have lined up a heavy concert program with Danish metal bands such as: Speedslut, Users, SPLIT, Undergang and more, playing on a stage in front of Warpigs Thursday through Saturday. On Saturday night, CopenHell will invite the audience on stage with their metal karaoke concept, and on Thursday night, Warpigs will host Denmark's largest metal music bingo with up to 500 participants. The program also includes wrestling when BODYSLAM performs two shows with theatrical entertainment violence. There will be a chili eating competition with Jesper Binzer (D-A-D) and Chili Klaus, Lövendahl will host a clothing market, and on Sunday, Butchers Heat will organize saunagus with cold beer baths.

Warpigs seeks to create great and uncompromising concepts around good beer. The brewpub is popular with locals and tourists, and that's something to celebrate. Founder and CEO of Mikkeller, Mikkel Bjergsø, says; “Every day we see tourists arriving directly from the airport with their rolling suitcases because it's the first thing they have to try when they arrive in Copenhagen. We are very proud of that, and therefore Warpigs should be celebrated in a proper way”.

Naturally, the birthday celebration will also feature plenty of cold beers, including a special beer brewed for the occasion in collaboration with the hyped American brewery Hill Farmstead. In addition, Warpigs will serve a number of classics from their menu, including brisket, ribs and pulled pork. Warpigs is looking forward to welcoming guests and expects it to be one of the wildest events in Mikkeller's history.
