Golden Days Festival

At the Golden Days Festival, over 100 partners collaborate to present cultural history based on a shared theme.

Golden Days was first held in 1994 and was established as a collaboration between a number of cultural institutions in Copenhagen.

Today, more than 100 partners – including museums, cultural centres, libraries, cinemas, theatres, music venues, organisations, and local businesses – come together each year to create a festival programme that, every September, invites locals and visitors alike to explore different interpretations of history and contemporary life under one unifying theme. With the festival, Golden Days aims to communicate art and culture in ways that spark interest among both seasoned culture-goers and those who rarely visit museums or are experiencing cultural events for the first time.

The vision is to share knowledge, history, and culture in an inspiring and engaging way that people genuinely want to be part of. You can get involved, learn something new – and maybe even gain a fresh perspective on the society we live in. The festival explores themes such as youth, love, and history’s overlooked women.

You can read about this year’s theme and programme on the Golden Days website.
