Nemoland
Amidst the winding paths and raw buildings of the sanctuary, this open, lively oasis emerges as a gathering place for musicians, regulars, artists and curious visitors.
In the middle of Christiania's raw factory area lies Nemoland, a green oasis where you can take a deep breath and feel the sanctuary up close. Here you will find a bar, bistro and large outdoor stage, surrounded by colourful brickwork, fairy lights and wooden tables that bring together everything from regulars to curious tourists.
Nemoland started as a local hangout but has developed into a cultural institution in the heart of Christiania. Every summer, the place is transformed into one of Copenhagen's most beloved music spots when the legendary free Sunday concerts kick off. Since the late 2000s, some of the country's biggest names have taken to the stage, side by side with new talents, while the audience sits on the embankment and looks down at the stage with cold beers in hand.
Outside the summer season, life continues both outside and inside. The outdoor bar has DJs on weekends, and in winter the atmosphere moves indoors, where pool tables, chess and backgammon create a relaxed living room vibe in the middle of alternative Christiania. On social media, Nemoland shares glimpses of everyday life, from sun-kissed concerts to celebrating Christiania's birthday with breakfast and community singing.
The programme is always available on their website, where you can also keep up with upcoming events. Whether you come for the music, the food or the atmosphere, Nemoland feels like a place you discover by chance and want to return to again and again, like a little secret garden in the middle of the big city where evenings tend to drag on long after dark.
