On your head – workshop in the Pantry

What do people wear to show who they are? A king has his crown, a stag its antlers, while the art of Agnes and Harald Slott-Møller features everything from helmets and hats to bonnets and crowns.

In the workshop, children and families can experiment with natural materials and create their own headwear. Along the way, participants can explore how something worn on the head can express dreams, abilities and identity.

Family tour – Turning things on their head

On the family tour Turning things on their head, visitors explore Frederiksborg’s portraits in search of crowns, hats, antlers and other details.

Children and adults can discover what headwear reveals about the people in the portraits and consider how they might show who they are themselves. The tour is designed especially for children aged approximately 4–9 accompanied by an adult, although children of other ages are also welcome.

Meet one of Frederiksborg’s museum educators and hear a short story in Danish. The stories alternate between the special exhibition Modern Middle Ages – Agnes and Harald Slott-Møller and the new Royal Portrait.

Under the banners – explore on your own

In the special exhibition Modern Middle Ages – Agnes and Harald Slott-Møller, children and families can create their own banner using words and images.

What matters to you, and what do you dream of for the future? Your banner can express something you would like to change, protect or share with others. The activity draws inspiration from the way banners have brought people together around ideas and communities throughout history.

The activity can be explored independently and is suitable for children and families of all ages.
