Copenhagen Half Marathon
Join the 25,000-30,000 runners when they take on the 21.0975 kilometres course at Copenhagen Half Marathon.
Every September, on a Sunday at the end of the month, Copenhagen is transformed into a festive celebration as the Copenhagen Half Marathon takes place. Both elite athletes and amateur runners line up to take on the 21.0975-kilometre challenge. The route stretches across the city, passing some of Copenhagen’s most beautiful landmarks — from Kongens Nytorv, Frederiksberg Allé and The Lakes to the Marble Church, the Old Stock Exchange and Christiansborg Palace. The race is the only one in the Nordics to carry the International Association of Athletics Federations’ quality mark, the World Athletics Elite Label, and in 2019, it hosted the world record of 58:01 set by Geoffrey Kamworor, as well as the current European women’s record set by Sifan Hassan in 2018.
Even if you're not running, it's a party just to watch. There’s always a great atmosphere, with music and dancing along the route. You’ll also spot runners who stand out — whether it's in creative costumes, funny hats or even barefoot.
Please note that parts of the city will be closed off during the Copenhagen Half Marathon to ensure optimal conditions for both runners and spectators. You can find this year’s date and route on the Copenhagen Half website.
