Søly
Right by the water in the heart of Vedbæk lies Café Søly – a place where charm, quality and tranquillity go hand in hand. Here, historic surroundings are combined with modern café culture, and both locals and visitors quickly feel at home.
Café Søly in Vedbæk is a cosy and stylish place right by the water, where the atmosphere is relaxed and quality is paramount. Located in a beautiful villa from 1862 with lots of history in its walls, over the years the place has served as everything from a private residence and hotel to a patisserie and restaurant. Today, it is run by Helle and Carl Gustav Lehmann, who have breathed new life into the house and created a modern meeting place for both locals and visitors.
At Søly, attention has been paid to every detail. The interior is warm and inviting with large windows overlooking the Øresund, soft sofa areas and an atmosphere that feels homely without being boring. In summer, the beautiful outdoor area will make you feel like you are sitting in a fairy-tale world. The food is simple but well executed, with a focus on good ingredients and taste. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served, complemented by coffee from La Cabra and a good selection of wines and cocktails.
A special feature of Café Søly is its own bakery, which is located next to the café kitchen. Every morning, fresh sourdough bread, rolls and sweet treats are baked here, which are served in the café and can also be purchased to take home. The bakery emphasises quality and craftsmanship, and you can clearly taste that the dough has been lovingly prepared using proper ingredients. The aroma of freshly baked bread greets you at the door and helps to create the warm and homely atmosphere for which Søly is known. The bread has a good crumb and crispy crust, and the cakes – especially the cardamom swirls and croissants – are popular with both regulars and new visitors.
The café is family-friendly, dogs are welcome on the terrace, and there is room for both large and small parties. Søly also hosts various events such as live music, Christmas markets and petanque tournaments. There is free parking, and you can often just drop in without a reservation.
All in all, Café Søly is a place you will want to return to. Whether you are looking for a good brunch, a relaxed coffee or dinner with a view, it is a place where you feel welcome.
