The district has grown from the preserved remains of a former concrete factory, just a 15-minute walk from Roskilde Station. Over many years, the area has been transformed through diverse collaborations and a strong entrepreneurial spirit.

Explore the urban village and experience the city through taste, play and sound

Today, Musicon is an award-winning district featuring colourful architecture, lively public spaces and a wide range of creative activities. The area is still evolving, with new projects continuing to take shape.

Learn about the district’s story on a guided tour. Public tours are available during the summer. Groups can book a private tour year-round. Contact the Musicon Residents' Association here.

A cultural hub with energy and edge

Musicon is full of contrasts. The architecture combines industrial heritage, recycled materials and raw urban character with modern designs, striking shapes and colourful lighting.

Art can be found throughout the district, from the street art gallery at Hal 9 and a facade relief by artist Christian Lemmerz to the bronze sculptures in the courtyard of the Rock Museum. The community-run gallery Bagtæppet also presents a varied programme of visual art.

On the district’s smaller stages, you can experience live music, contemporary dance and theatre. Talks and discussions on current topics are also part of the programme, and the area regularly hosts festivals and events.

Taste the world with local roots

Musicon’s eateries offer flavours from around the world alongside locally produced beer, coffee and bread. Independent shops also offer plenty to explore.

Entrepreneurship and community spirit

You are always welcome to explore and get involved. The atmosphere is shaped by entrepreneurial spirit and people with a strong commitment to their craft and projects.

Collaboration is an important part of life at Musicon, from community clean-ups and urban gardening to shared meals, sing-alongs and creative workshops.

Plenty of space for play and movement

Musicon’s streets and public spaces are designed for play and activity. Bring your skateboard, scooter or running shoes. You’ll also find parkour areas in both Rabalderparken and beneath the East car park.

Skaters were among the first to make use of the former industrial site, and skate culture remains an important part of Musicon, whether in the streets, the Rabalderparken bowl or on the ramps at Hal 12.

On rainy days, put on your raincoat and watch the rainwater flow through the district’s open channels before reaching the rainwater staircase in Rabalderparken. Start your tour here and explore the district.
